The Non-Beatleproof Seal of Approval is a cheesy thing I came up with to make other Beatles fans aware of really cool Beatle-related things. First...
Across the Universe: Do you hate musicals? Do you hate musicals with Beatles songs because you are afraid the actors will screw up the songs? Don't be!! This movie was wonderful. Don't listen to the soundtrack before watching it; I did, and I didn't like it very much. When I watched the movie, however, I loved the soundtrack. The actors have very good voices and act out the emotions/events in the songs well. Give Across the Universe a chance; you may like it. It has become my everything movie - the movie I watch when I feel sad, uninspired, afraid, etc. It has never failed to make me feel better. And ladies, Jim Sturgess is one of the sexiest things you'll ever see.
1964 the Tribute: Many Beatles fans who were skeptical of the awesomeness of Beatles tribute bands were turned around by this band. Not only is it important to be close to the Beatles in looks and sound, but also in mannerisms. These guys definitely are, and they know what they are doing. Do yourself a favor and check them out, especially if you have never seen them or any other tribute band before. Be warned: if you go see another tribute band after 1964, the other tribute band will look kind of bad, because you saw the best before them.
Love (Cirque du Soleil show + CD): It took me forever to buy the CD for this, because I never thought it would be that good or very different. I thought it was just a bunch of Beatles song mixed together in random ways that would only appeal to people that were high or something. Guess what? I was wrong! It is a great CD, even though I wasn't high. I still have not seen the show due to lack of travel/ticket money, but it looks beautiful after what I have been able to see from here.
Vintage Beatles magazines: I own a few of these and would never, ever sell them. I seriously doubt anyone could pay me to sell them. The ones from the early sixties are deliciously corny, repeatedly talking about "those four handsome moptops from Liddypool." They had to be corny, because they were focused on female teenage readers. Ebay is probably your best bet for finding and purchasing these.
Ringo jokingly asking Larry King if he was 102: Probably one of the greatest Larry King moments ever. Larry had it coming; he certainly did seem to be making a big deal of Ringo's age. He mentioned it about twelve times. Poor Ringo. Let's not forget the time that Larry called Ringo "George" during a previous interview either. (For more information about this great moment, check out the news).
